The Glenns’ Story:
Housing with a Purpose
Amir and Yvette Glenn, lifelong residents of New Haven, Connecticut, have always been deeply connected to their community. Their passion for housing and empowerment is rooted in their own upbringing, shaped by the lessons of homeownership, perseverance, and the strength of community.

Yvette grew up in the Hill neighborhood of New Haven, where her parents, hardworking and determined, purchased their first multifamily home in 1981—before she was born. That home became the foundation for their family, and her parents still reside there today. She watched as her father poured his time and effort into rehabilitating their “dollar house,” transforming it into a home for his family while also building a neighborhood garden to bring the community together. Through his example, Yvette learned the power of homeownership—not just as a means of stability but as a way to uplift and invest in the community. Throughout her adolescence, she was an active participant in the New Haven Boys & Girls Club, a foundational program that instilled lifelong values of leadership, service, and resilience.

Amir, too, was shaped by the values of homeownership and community. His family roots were tied to the Beaver Hills neighborhood through his grandparents, who were pillars in the community, providing service through their local church. Though he moved between different neighborhoods in New Haven, the foundation they built and their commitment to service left a lasting impression. As he grew up, he watched his mother purchase multiple homes, reinforcing the importance of ownership as a path to stability and generational wealth. Those early lessons instilled in him a deep desire to create the same sense of security and opportunity for others.

Over the past decade, Amir and Yvette have built a reputation as compassionate landlords, managing multifamily properties with care and integrity. Their belief in the power of stable housing deepened after a life-changing encounter with one of their tenants. Days after Thanksgiving, a family moved into their new home, and the children ran joyfully through the rooms. One child, after taking it all in, turned to Amir and Yvette and said, “Thank you. All I wanted for Christmas was my own bedroom.” The family had spent over a year in a homeless shelter, and that simple expression of gratitude made the Glenns realize that housing is more than just a roof—it is a foundation for dignity, stability, and hope.
This moment ignited a deeper calling. Providing homes wasn’t enough; they wanted to empower families to build lasting change. From this vision, Wealth Beacon Group Foundation was born. The foundation operates on the belief that sustainable change comes from empowerment. Rather than offering temporary solutions, the Glenns are equipping families with the tools to achieve stability and independence. Through wraparound support services—including financial literacy workshops, mental wellness programs, and career training—they are transforming housing into a pathway for success.

Guided by the belief that “empowered families create empowered communities,” Amir and Yvette are leading families on a transformational journey from homelessness to homeownership. By building not just homes, but hope, resilience, and opportunity, they are working toward a brighter, more equitable future for all.
